Why was the soft drink Mr. Pibb discontinued?

I know it is now known as Pibb Xtra but it does not taste the same as Mr. Pibb.

Because it tasted bad, and everyone thought it was just a more sugary dr pepper

it was discontinued?

really?!

thank god, now our long national nightmare is over!!!

Why doe s asparagus make my pee yelloW??

Its all the nutrients you didnt absorb

GWB said it's because of terrorist evildoers, right before he launched a pre-emptive strike and nuked greenland. He learned on his box of crayons that blue and yellow make green. Therefore if he wipes out greenland, he takes out both the yellow and the blue. Mission accomplished.

Those were some scary 8 years.

it's the iron content of the asparagus that tint the urine yellow.

your dehydrated. dont blame it on the asparagus lol.

I'd be more worried if I was peeing asparagus

That happens to everyone.

Because you think Bush belongs behind bars

Erm... what colour is your pee usually??

When i buy food from a takeaway or restaurant how can i be SURE that no one spits into my food?

you can be too careful these days - how can i guarantee my food will be safe from this kind of abuse?

You can't. But to decrease your likelihood of some foreign secretion in your food, be polite to the waitstaff and don't go where many teenagers work. I'm not picking on teenagers in general, just my personal experience of hearing stories about this sort of thing when I was younger.

unfortunately you can't be sure, and have you seen on TV news lately how some of the employees were taking baths in the kitchen sink in fast food restaurants?! Much safer to make your own food!

you are never sure of anything you eat fresh/canned /frozen or served in a restaurant ,

its just a chance we have to take,

You cant be sure, EVER. That's why I like to cook. I know whats in the dish when I serve it.

What can you put on corn other than salt, and butter?

My favourite with Corn on the Cob is garlic butter.

With sweet corn I like them mixed with minted peas as they cook, for that minty taste.

You can put a little bit of cream cheese on it. It is really good, my step-dad showed me this last year and I didn't think I would like it, but it is awesome.

I make a compound butter with garlic salt, pepper, and Parmesan. It's really really good. I've tried a dash of chili powder too.

I love to use basil or cajun seasoning but just a little. This way you can give it a little bite

i put salt, butter, mexican cheese, chile, and limon

I use Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning on everything - although Zatarain's works too

My favorite is Spice Islands Old Hickory Smoked Salt, Butter, and Parmesan Cheese. YUMMMMMMMMMM

Wrap your ear of corn in foil with a fresh basil leaf and a pat of butter then grill or bake. Really good.

mmmmm butter and a smidge of sugar is really good :)

i put A1 steak sauce on it.

Chili powder is great on corn. Try it.

basil is great

Put some honey on it,I love to eat my corn this way.

I luv Basil in mine!

Does cornmeal ever go bad?

I have cornmeal that is two years old and it still looks good... but is it safe to use for cooking? How do you tell if it's gone bad?

No bugs? Does it smell stale?

I used to bake bread, and sometimes I'd try to use older flour, and the result was lower grade bread. It just didn't taste as good.

I'd toss it. Don't you have a recipe for cornbread? I cook that, at least once every 3-4 weeks. Everytime I cook chili.

TX Mom

It will go rancid; it's made of corn which has oil in it and will go bad eventually. If it's been sealed and kept cool, it will last a long time, but check the smell, and look for weevils. Best rule of thumb: when it doubt, throw it out. For $1.79, it's not worth risking a bad meal and illness.

Steel-ground cornmeal can be stored almost indefinitely in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. The fat in the germ of stone-ground cornmeal makes it more perishable. It should be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to four months.

Only if it's been exposed to moisture, in which case it will clump. What you have is probably still good but it may have lost some flavour over that time if it wasn't tightly sealed.

Cornmeal will last for a long time if stored properly,if it smells or tastes bad, pitch it.

What to add to my morning cup of coffee for a little jump start?

breakfast

In the morning, straight coffee or espresso.

In the evening, coffee

Kahlua

Brandy

Whiskey

Irish Cream

Amaretto

Frangelico

Grappa

Try them one at a time, or use a mug.

Coffee itself IS the jumpstart because it has caffeine. You can always add sugar to it to give you that sugar boost as well.

If you are under 21 sugar if you are 21 or older a shot of brandy:)

lucozade tablets.

[2nd attempt at this] How can I flavor shrimp to taste like it does at a Japanese steak house?

I hate shrimp, but the only way I really like it is at a Japanese steak house or Hibachi (?) grill or whatever it is called. I've seen it made in front of me, but I don't know what the sauces they use to flavor it are. If anyone knows PLEASE let me know, I have to make this recipe today!!

Thanks in advance..

I tried forever to imitate that taste using soy sauce, oyster sauce, teriyaki, etc, and could never really get it right. I finally found this stuff in a bottle on the Asian foods isle....the brand is House of Tsang and it's Classic Stir-Fry Sauce. Marinate the shrimp in some teriyaki sauce for a few hours, drain and then coat with the stir-fry sauce. Cook it on high heat till the shrimp is pink and firm. It should be pretty close.

Hi, Heres your answer as I live across the street from a Japanese resturant and have sampled thier food-marinate your shrimps in frige with teriyaki marinate for about 5 hours -skewer them-then cook on grill til done-yummy-if you do not have a grill-you can baked them wrapped in foil in your oven....ENJOY!

The tepenyaki (sp) chef that prepared it could have done it a million ways. Not every Japanese steak house, uses the same recipes.

Stir fry in butter or marg, add a little soy sauce just before it is done.

Soy Sauce

Why are you still supposed to wash Banana peels before eating a banana?

I was watching that show The Doctors this morning and it said that you're supposed to rinse your banana's before eating them. Why? that doesnt make sense since you're not eating the peel

I have never done it and did not know it was necessary. It would be interesting though to know. You could send a mail to them and find out the reason for it.

I will still peal and eat my banana as I always do it, except of course, if it was full of sand, which would be on my hands as well. The only way to avoid contaminating my banana would be to wash both banana and hands.

I've never done it, but if someone with some sort of expertise said that, my guess is that it would have something to do with pesticides. Pesticides even when skins are washed, can still get into some fruits and vegetables. I always buy organic, so I don't have that worry.

I have never done it, and im not about to start now. no germs can get to the banana with the peel intact, so it doesnt make sense

never have never will. i dont chew on the peel or anything. pointless to rinse && have a wet banana on the go!

That doesn't makes sense. That's just strange.

Have anyone eaten a Komodo Dragon?

Substitute for buttermilk its for?

a pour over glaze for a carrot cake, since its a main ingredient of the pour over glaze, would you think a substitute would taste the same or should I break down and buy some, thank you.

Break down and buy some. Otherwise, it might taste weird. Look for the cheapest kind, though.

To make a quick substitution for buttermilk I take a cup of milk and ad a teaspoon or so of vinegar, it makes 'buttermilk'. The vinegar curdles the milk and it works. And no, you cannot taste the vinegar.

Buy it. You can buy the little cartons at wal-mart, smiths/kroger for about 40 cents.

mix equal parts of plain yogurt and water. it is equivalent to buttermilk

1 Tbsp lemon juice to 1 cup of milk

Is drinking coffee give you bad breath?

I used to drink Coffee, but I stopped when I found out that it increases my heart-beat rate. Recently I noticed my co-workers breath has an unpleasant smell, particularly the ones who enjoy their early-morning Coffee. These folks, though, have very healthy teeth.

When I used to drink Coffee, I think my breath used to taste funny, too, but I could not tell whether or not my breath was unpleasant.

I would like to hear from you. Is drinking Coffee makes your breath become unpleasant?

Dad

Drinking coffee or smoking gives you two types of bad breath because the coffee or smoking smell collects on the top of the tongue. and then gives off those smells for a time after. The tongue collects a sample of what we eat or drink. For example, if you eat a highly colored red candy your tongue will be red. Really bad breath comes from bacteria that are on the top of the tongue. This bacteria can be seen as "white stuff", especially on the back of the tongue. Mints, gum, mouthwash just cover up this bad breath for a short time but do not cure bad breath. To cure bad breath you must remove this "white stuff" using OraBrush tongue cleaner. I use OraBrush because it is both a brush and a scraper. It will remove the bacteria as well as the coffee or smoking smells. In my opinion it is the best tongue cleaner around.

yes it does, it makes the mouth acidic and foul in odor. I like coffee and I often brush my teeth afterwards and drink some water to avoid the bad breath

lol I agree that morning people who drink coffee especially as a breakfast have the worst breath

Coffee breath is rank.

Coffee breath cigarette breath makes me recoil in horror. Having to endure that is a fate worse than death.

YES. My sister used to work at Starbucks and she had perpetual terrible breath. I'm talking halitosis. Thank god she quit and her breath is slowly turning back to normal.

Yes and it also stains your teeth horribly!!!

People please stop drinking coffeeeee.

Yes it does. I quit drinking it also,only because it started to taste nasty. I do love my green tea or peppermint tea.

yes it does and makes your teeth yellow but maybe u could use breathmints or gum and whitening strips!!

Yes it does. Offer your coworkers some gum.

HECK YESS

Is there an alternative to eggs if you bake cookies?

We came into alot of Quaker oats oatmeal, so I think it would be good to make oatmeal cookies, any body have?

Any good quick and easy recipes?

G'day from WA

Here in Australia we have great cookies called Anzacs.

This is how you make them:

INGREDIENTS

1 cup rolled oats

3/4 cup desiccated coconut

1 cup plain flour

1 cup sugar

125g (4oz) butter

2 tablespoons golden syrup

1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda

1 tablespoon water

Preheat oven to 300F (150C)

Mix oats, flour, sugar and coconut together.

Melt syrup and butter together.

Mix soda with boiling water and add to melted butter and syrup.

Add to dry ingredients.

Place 1 tablespoonfuls of mixture on greased tray (allow room for spreading).

Bake for 20 minutes.

Loosen while warm, cool on trays.

(makes about 35)

.............

You can also put a cup of oats in the dry ingredients when you are making muffins for breakfast.

Ingredients:

* 1 cup flour

* 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed

* 2 tsp baking powder

* 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice

* 1/4 tsp baking soda

* 3/4 cup canned pumpkin

* 1 large egg, slightly beaten

* 1/4 cup milk

* 1/4 cup sunflower oil

* 1 cup rolled oats

* 1/2 cup roasted sunflower seeds

* TOPPING:

* 1 tbsp margarine, melted

* 1/3 cup brown sugar

* 3 tbsp sunflower seeds

* 1 tbsp flour

* 1/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice

Preparation:

Pre-heat oven to 425 degrees. Prepare a muffin pan for 12 muffins.

Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, pumpkin pie spice and soda. Mix well.

In a separate bowl, combine pumpkin, egg, milk and oil; add to dry ingredients and stir only until ingredients are combined. Stir in oats and sunflower seeds. Fill muffin cups 3/4 full with batter.

You can top these pumpkin muffins with an optional sweet topping. To prepare the topping, combine the topping ingredients (1 tbsp margarine, 1/3 cup brown sugar, 3 tbsp sunflower seeds, 1 tbsp flour and 1/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice) until crumbly. Sprinkle over the muffins before baking.

Bake 18 to 20 minutes.

Servings: 12 muffins

Hope this helps.

I do the same thing Jenny does, use the recipe on the box. I do one thing different though, I add these little mini cinnamon chips that I found at the grocery store near the chocolate chips! If they don't have them now, make sure to look for them in the fall, and stock up with a few in the freezer, they work great in pancakes, muffins, scones, and cheesecake crusts also!

My family also uses oats in savory recipes. Since meat is so expensive, I make my ground beef/chicken/turkey go further by substituting 1/4 of the meat called for in the recipe with oats. It works awesome in manwiches, tacos, casseroles etc... and it adds tons of whole grains to your diet quite easily and it is rarely noticed by picky eaters!

O yeah. These are my favorite cookie. Even better than Toll House chocolate chip! & if you have a coffee grinder, gr5ind up some oatmeal to use instead of flour. Makes 'em real tasty.

Ingredients

1 cup vegetable shortening

1 cup sugar

1 cup brown sugar

2 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

3 cups oats

1 cup raisins

1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350F.

Beat shortening, sugar, brown sugar until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix well. Combine flour, baking soda & salt. Add to shortening mixture. Mix well. Stir in oats, raisins & nuts.

Using rounded tablespoons, roll into balls. Place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet. Flatten with fork Bake 10 to 15 minutes.

Makes 5 dozen.

Soften the butter first, add sugar and egg and vanilla, then mix the flour with baking soda (about 1/2 tsp.) and add oats (2 1/2 cups, to 1 cube butter, and 1 tsp. vanilla,

I don't generally go by a recipe. I go by the texture of the dough but do a good guess about how much. So make the flour like 1 cup. I add cinnamon and cloves, raisins and choc. drops and chopped walnuts if I have them. The dough should be fairly buttery cause they turn out better if they spread out well I think but not too much. However, there is a recipe on the Quaker oats box usually. It calls for 3 cups of oats. But it's too oaty that way and doesn't spread out enough for me. So, if you don't want to experiment, just look up a recipe.

basic guesses:

1 egg

1 cube butter

1 cup sugar

2 1/2 cups of oatmeal

1 cup flour

1/8 tsp. salt

1 tsp. cinn.

1/4 tsp. cloves

1/2 tsp. baking soda

If it's not sweet enough for you, add another 1/2 cup sugar. God bless you.

Optional: Chips, raisins and walnuts to your taste.

I don't have any cookie recipes at the moment. But try this.

I like to put oatmeal in the blender and make it into oat flour, which it will do pretty well, them use it to bread fried chicken. It is really delicious, and better for you i believe. Same for frying fish. I use it in meatloaf too.

Also banana bread, which i make like a pound cake.

how's that?

Honestly my favorite is the recipe right on the Quaker oatmeal box/canister, the "vanishing oatmeal raisin cookies". They're simple and easy and turn out perfectly every time.

look on the box of Quaker Oats,...they have the original oatmeal cookie recipie, we add walnuts, white chocalate chips etc...then you can freeze them so they last ...

makes great presents and nice 'friendly' gifts for your neighbors!

Hey Im making a white wine cream sause n the wine keeps turning out pretty prominent how do i burn it off so i?

Hey Im making a white wine cream sause n the wine keeps turning out pretty prominent how do i burn it off so i?

First off, taste the wine before adding to the sauce. Do not cook with any wine that you wouldn't drink.

Bringing the sauce to boil will burn off the alcohol, but the taste of the wine will still remain. If it is still unpleasantly overpowering, use less wine.

How much wine do you put in it? Try flaming it off (only if you've had experience at that, of course) or just cooking it off. Use less wine.

your using to much wine!
use the wine to deglaze the pan let come to a simmer and then add cream

i dont know what your asking

Whats the Difference Between a Vegan and a Vegetarian?

Whats the Difference Between a Vegan and a Vegetarian?
Neither vegetarians nor vegans eat any meat or slaughter bi-products. This means no beef, pork, poultry, deer meet, fish, shrimp, clams, etc. It also means no gelatin (Starbursts, marshmallows, Jr mints, gummy bears, many yogurts), rennet, lard, chicken fat (in soups and raman) beef fat (included in things like McDonald's fries and Hostess products.)

Some vegetarian refrain from using leather, ivory, tallow and other products that kill animals, but technically vegetarianism is a diet only.

Veganism is not just a diet but, by definition, a whole lifestyle. It means using nothing made by animal - not just the above foods but also no dairy, eggs, honey, some refined sugars, no whey. It means not using leather, wool, bee's wax, or products tested on animals.

i think that a vegan is someone who doesn't eat ANYTHING that comes from an animal. and a vegetarian is someone who will eat/drink milk and fish and stuff like that

Vegetarians eat things produced by animals like eggs and milk. Vegans don't.
Vegans dont eat anything made from animals. vegitarians are more lenient

85 pounds. how much to get drunk?

85 pounds. how much to get drunk?
im 85 pound girl. im very little and im asian.
im going over my friends in the weekend, and she has never drank before...i have, so she wants to do it with me instead of a crazy party.

she weights about 140.
i dont want to make her pass out,
how many shot of 40% alcohol will get her drunk?
not tipsy, drunk.
she wants to get drunk.
she is also Caucasian, if that makes a difference.

my second question is, im 85 pounds.
just out of curiosity, how many shots for me to get drunk?
with also 80 proof [40% alcohol]?
12 hours ago
Additional Details
im not 21.
im only 16.
please dont preech.
we all know im not the only one.

For you, 3-4 shots in 1 hour would get you drunk. 3 is more of a tipsy drunk, while 4 is a proper drunk. 5 would be pretty damn drunk.

Despite your friend weighing 65% more, she can't actually handle 65% more. For her, 6 shots is the maximum she should have. If over the span of, say, 2-3 hours then she could have 7. For her, 3-4 would be tipsy, 4-5 is drunk.

You would be more drunk with 5 than she would be with 6. But you never want a first time drinker to get more drunk than you, bad things happen with newbies.

The both of you can have 4 shots in 1 hour and then stop drinking. The night will be fun, you should both get drunk and you won't end up puking. Hangover is possible, but if you drink a lot of water afterwards it will help.

Why do you want to get drunk? Do you have a fetish for puking your guts out the next day? For doing things you'll be ashamed of? For putting yourself at risk for death via alcohol poisoning?

none. you should be in the hospital if you are 21 and only weigh 85pounds
Source(s):
to answer your question like maybe 2 shots because your emaciated sick body probably couldn't handle more

1 and ahalf beers will do the trick little one.

about 7 shots for your friend about the same for you

forget the girl thats talking about the puking and all that bull****, your just trying to have some fun, i live in las vegas, and everyday out here depending on where you are is a party the drinking never stops, nor does the drugs. All you gotta do is just take 2 shots right off the bat, both within 5 minutes and have a chaser (an energy drink or soda to drink right after your shot) to chase it down, after the 2 shots in your first five minutes, pour 2 shots in a cup with the rest soda...like this:
**************************************...
*and then fill up the cup to here with soda*
* *
* *
* *
* *
* pour alcohal up to here first****************
* *
* *
**************************************...

youll notice when you start to get drunk after sipping on the drink for a little while, make sure you put ice in it, but the trick is to keep sipping on that drink every so often so its not just sitting there, if you dont like the taste...dont worry, if you keep sippin youll start to get drunk, therefore you really wont taste it anymore.

17 years old with outstanding alcohal experience.

I had a roomate in college that was Japanese, she was very small and petite like you. She used to say that asians had a lower alcohol tolerance than caucasian people, and beings that they have a tendency to be small people, it only took her a couple of shots or cocktails to get a good buzz on. If your 140 pound friend has never gotten drunk before, then it will probably not take her much to get drunk either... despite her size, she has little to no tolerance to alcohol, so it won't take much for her, either, maybe just 2 or 3. No more than 4, I would suggest. While getting drunk is fun, if you have too much, it will make you throw up, which is not fun. I would also suggest you drink plenty of water too. Alcohol dehydrates your body, and if you don't drink enough water while drinking alcohol, you will have a killer hangover in the morning, which is caused by dehydration.

I am around 130 pounds and caucasian. I have a friend that's about the same size, but she drinks more than me and has higher alcohol tolerance. We went out once, and over the course of the evening I think I had five shots. She had at least that many, perhaps a few more. Well I got sick as a dog and threw up. She didn't. So tolerance to alcohol does affect how much it takes a person to feel the effects.

Make sure you and your friend are in a safe environment when you drink, and don't ever drink and drive or get in a car with a person who's been drinking. If you drink around alot of other people, such as a bar or party-type setting, keep track of your drink. Don't leave it sitting around unattended. It's not unheard of for boys with bad intentions to slip drugs into a girl's drink when she's not looking.

Have fun, but be safe and responsible too.

I have four large bone-in chicken thighs and I want to pan fry them?

I have four large bone-in chicken thighs and I want to pan fry them?
Any ideas?I have bacon fat - no oilHow much fat do I melt in frying pan and how long do I fry them and how do I know they are cooked through?PS Pan Frying is only option. No oven or grill.

Bacon grease is a good vehicle to use for the oil in this recipe:

Fried Chicken:

4 bone in chicken thighs

Salt and Pepper, to taste

Flour, to dredge chicken in.

Season about 2 cups of flour (you WON'T be using it all) with the salt and pepper (and any other seasonings that you would like, such as poultry seasoning, sage, or marjoram).

Preheat about 1/4 cup (4 tablespoons) of the bacon grease over a medium high heat in a skillet large enough to accomodate the thighs without crowding them.....10-12 inches works best.....

Dredge chicken thighs in flour, (coat them in the flour) and set aside; when grease is shimmering (but NOT smoking) add the chicken pieces SKIN side down, and cook for about 5 minutes, lower heat to medium. Continue to cook for about 5 more minutes, the turn over and cook, uncovered, for about an addidtional 15 minutes. Cut to test for doneness: The juices should run clear when cut. Drain on paper towels, serve immediately......Enjoy......

If you want any other recommendations, I've starred this and will check back......

See how easy that was???

Okay, I have the perfect idea for you and it will cook the chicken throughly.

If you dont use this idea- then your chicken will most likely be undercooked.

If you have just a frying pan, thats fine- but this would work better if you had a large sauce pan.

Use all the fat you have and put it at the bottom of whatever pan you use. If you have tomatoes or onions- slice a half of each and dice, but if you dont then add salt and pepper or whatever you want to use. It would be better with the tomatoes and onions however.

Add as much of the chicken as you can- this depends on the size of the pan your using.

Then add cups of water until the water just barely covers the chicken.
Add a lid to the pan your using- or find something that can cover the pan like a large serving dish- plate etc.

Check often, and make sure its not getting burned, etc.
Should be ready anywhere from 30-45 mintues.

Season the way you want. Heat a pan which will hold the four thighs on medium heat. Add a tablespoon of bacon fat to melt. Once hot, add thighs and let brown for about 8 -10 minutes (all stoves are not created equal in the heating range aspect). When nice and brown on bottom side, flip them and cook until they are done. If you need a bit more bacon grease, add it. When you poke them with a fork and no pinkish fluid runs out, they are probably cooked.
After browing, you can always add some chicken broth, thyme and bay leaf to braise them, and add saute'd vegs and rice to cook in with it. If you're going to braise them, though, it's best to have a lid to cover the simmering chicken.
Braising them will make them quite tender.
You can always add some cream of something soup if you want.
Hope this turns out for you.

Melt the bacon fat, enough to just cover the bottom of the pan, med. heat so as not to spatter. Place thighs, lightly salted and peppered in the pan, turn as they brown, then top with a lid, lower heat to low and allow to cook until done, about 20 - 30 mins.
You could add some chopped onion, garlic and/or rosemary to the pan near the

You can brown them then add water or chicken broth and let simmer about 15 minutes nice and tender.

just pan fry them with some black pepper and salt, no need for bacon
fry until brown
