Working full time, how much does an average bartender make?

In a big city in an average establishment?
Depends, if you work nights or days. Weekdays or weeknights, I bartended for 13 years, and some bars I worked at, just on a Friday Saturday night only (salary, tip-out from servers, and my tips) I could leave with $1500. It is not an easy job though, you never sit still, you deal with drunks, and the way the laws are today, there is a high responsibility and liability for serving someone to much, know the laws in your state. It is fun though (most of the time) and my biggest tip or advise would be, TREAT YOUR BAR-BACKS GOOD, they are your life line to the money, at the end of the night TIP THEM WELL...5% to 10% of what you make should go to them, without them you are screwed!!! with their help, is how you make the $$$$$$$$$$$$$ once they know the more they help the more they make, you should do pretty good.
